Myths of the Origin of the Temple

The traditional origin story of Lord Jagannath Temple says that the original image of Jagannath (a form of Lord Vishnu) was placed here at the end of Dwapara Yuga near a banyan tree near the shore in the form of Indranila.
Me. or blue jewels appear. It was so amazing that it could give instant moksha, so the god Dharma or Yama tried to hide it in the earth and succeeded. In the Kali Yuga, the Malwa king Indradyumna wanted to find this mysterious image and performed severe penances to achieve his goal.
Vishnu then instructed him to go to the shore of Puri and find a floating stick to take a picture of his stick.
The king found a stream. He did a yajna from which God Yajna Nrisimha appeared and instructed that Narayana should be made as fourfold expansion, i.e. Paramatma as Vasudeva, his Vyuha as Samkarshana, Yogamaya as Subhadra, and his Vibhava as Sudarsana.
Vishwakarma appeared in the form of an artisan and prepared images of Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra from the tree.
When this log, radiant with light was seen floating in the sea, Narada told the king to make three idols out of it and place them in a pavilion.
Indradyumna got Vishwakarma, the architect of Gods, to build a magnificent temple to house the idols, and Vishnu himself appeared in the guise of a carpenter to make the idols on condition that he was to be left undisturbed until he finished the work.
But just after two weeks, the Queen became very anxious. He thought that the carpenter was dead because he did not hear any sound from the temple. Then he asked the king to open the door.
So they went to see Vishnu at work where he abandoned his work and left the idols unfinished. The idol was empty of hands. But a divine voice ordered Indradyumna to install them in the temple.
There was also a belief among the people that even though the idol had no hands, it could guard the world and own it. That's the point.
