Welcome to this channel INDIAN FAMOUS TEMPLES WITH SHORT DESCRIPTION . Today we are talking about one of the famous hindu Temple called Amarnath or Amareswara Temple It's also known as "Swayambhu" means born itself.
The Shiva lingam is located in the Swayambu Lingam shrine.
The Lingam is a natural stalagmite structure located on Mount Amarnath, whose peak is 5,186 meters (17,014 ft), and is contained in a 40-meter (130 ft) high cave at an altitude of 3,888 meters (12,756 ft).
Stalagmites form when drops of water fall from the cave ceiling to the cave floor and freeze, causing the ice to grow vertically upwards.
There are different types of stalagmites.
Here the sthalas, which are considered to be lingas, the physical manifestation of Shiva, form a continuous dome shape.
Parvati and Ganesha are also two subsidiary places.
The ancient Hindu texts of the Mahabharata and the Puranas mention that the lingam represents Shiva.
When the snow melts in the Himalayas above the cave, the lingam grows from May to August. After that, the lingam gradually decreases.
According to religious beliefs, the lingam waxes and wanes with the phases of the moon, culminating in the summer festival.
According to Hindu beliefs, this is where Shiva explained the secret of life and immortality to his divine wife Parvati.
