Overcome, Not Me

A number of things enjoyed—
a scoundrel, a liar, a survivor—
nothing needed but breath, exhalation.

Land mass and canal, rocky point of peninsula
Conversation, discourse, concourse as communication,
Eagerness inside the darkness.

Theft that arises in lowered shades
A smoothness that soothes an economy
Parry and thrust taken to the heart.
