Description

The Offering

The distasteful isn't easy to disclose.
What appears as sour
might be a lemon
that doesn't want to be tasted.

Be grateful when caring corrects
what might be an error in judgment.
It's the clock that doesn't want to hear
what time has to offer;
Nighttime thinks it's criticism
when the gift is the full moon, aglow.

Messengers are killed
for delivering the ragged message.
Remember even prophets
are thought daft
when bringing the truth. ??

Listening is more important
than judgment.
Response should be considered.
'Is it true; is it necessary; is it kind? '

Is it kind to tell the stumbling
they are confused in darkness;
or should we as friends wait;
let them discover for themselves
the world calls them blind—point blank?

Consider the lemon patiently
before passing judgment.
Listen quietly and deeply—
taste the noble lemon's flavor.

All is endowed with initial worth.
Recognition calls for wisdom.
Self examination peels lemons
for understanding, self-identity.

If we are wiser or smarter about
lemon trees; who is it that has
the greater responsibility? ??
Consciousness is greater acceptance.
