Lucy Lll - Slaughtonomy

Like animals being led to slaughter, we wait,
huddled together, enclosed, behind metal gates.
With baited breath we await our pre-chosen fate.
Nose to tail, tail to nose,
side by side, yet so alone.
We stand motionless as men in suits
push buttons we cannot reach.
Numbers written on our back,
the allotted hit list, they stay on track.
We surge forward, the panic ensues,
all the while forming orderly queues.
We walk the pre-chosen paths,
past machinery that sputters,
we silently gasp.
A man with a gun leads me down,
quick it's my time to run!
But instead I lie down.
Our eyes never meet,
the last sight I see
are his protected feet..
Now there is emptiness,
nothing to feel.

as your pre-packaged meal!
