Description
Where do your loved ones lie?
Have they come yet Robin Redbreast?
Do their sweet songs fill the sky?
It is the springtime, Robin
And your eggs have yet to hatch.
Where is their peeping, Robin?
From beneath my housing’s thatch?
You say you have no loved ones,
And that she has gone away?
She of all you loved ones
Is not with you today?
I know well your sorrow, Friend,
That sorrow deep within you now.
But sorrow marks you ever, Friend:
That mark of blood wiped from Christ’s brow.
But keep heart Robin Redbreast
Springtime will come next year,
And she’ll be with you, Robin,
And all your loved ones gathered here.
