33,000 spectators in the Stadium, some 2 billion TV viewers, countries linked by satellite. 2,500 athletes representing 80 countries, more than 6,000 volunteers starring in the show. The Opening Ceremony celebrated passion, sports and Olympic Values in an outstanding event.
It won 2 Emmys and the Best Event Award 2006.
