Find the best financial services for you at: SMARTFINANCESOLUTIONS.NET - Bankruptcy Question!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? - My sister in law filed a bankruptcy recently and the whole process is almost finished but she's now at a stage where she's trying to figure out if she should keep her vehicle. Before she starting going through her financial woes, I know she was talking about trading in the vehicle for something possibly more fuel efficient. She has a 2004 Suzuki XL7 i believe. I think she told me she still owes $16,000 on the car, which was unbelievable to me because she's paid $500 a month since 04, so I thought she was close to having it paid off by now. Her attorney told her they would attempt to get her payments lowered by about half and attempt to have the bank sell her the car for what the blue book value is which was about $5000. She just got her offer back and they would lower what she owes to about 9000$ with payments of $280 a month and now she's just trying to figure out if she should keep it, give it back, or trade it in and maybe enter one of those buyer programs for people who just filed a bankruptcy or have bad credit to get a used vehicle. Her lawyer says the deal for the car is pretty good but whether she wants to keep it is her call, so she asked us for advice but I really don't know what to tell her. I just wish she didn't have to file the bankruptcy cause it going to affect her for years. Any advice would be appreciated! -
