Rebekah Parrish - Butter-Fly Away

When you first look upon me
I'm nothing special or unique
Just a lonely little caterpillar
Shy and quiet at first
'Til you get to know the real me
I try and hide in my cocoon
Desirous to fly free of expectations
I change under the cover of my shell
When I finally break free
I wear my heart and love on my wings
Fluttering from petal to petal
I leave an imprint on all i meet
I live my days in the garden of life
Taking in each moment gracefully
Throughout my many journeys
The weather changes from day to day
My views alter hour by hour
Yet my morals withstand the scenery
My wings I spread, as I travel abroad
But the mark of my beginnings remains
When at last you look upon the true me
I'm exquisite and delicate
Just a beautiful, brilliant butterfly
With open wings, to all I care
