let go of these moments
that's what i try to do
but,
there are bits of silver paper strewn across the lawn
and bits of every dream rent by mindless fury
like fuel to my fire, this ignorance enrages
wrenched from my placidity
torn from insignificance
by a selfish, heartless deed

crimson.

splashed across my body
propelled into the air
lucidity has escaped
like a thief into the night
everything is lost
nothing unaffected
the hammer lands
and the hammer lands again
every sound enunciated
every second standing still
until the madness abates
and the fury dissipates
as the stars return to view
