Description

Here are some ways to prepare for an in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle:
Eat well: Eat a healthy, balanced diet that's rich in protein, fiber, folic acid, and omega-3 fatty acids. Foods that are good for this include leafy greens, eggs, beans, yogurt, fish, nuts, oats, and other whole grains.
Take supplements: Consider taking prenatal vitamins, vitamin D, CoQ10, or DHEA.
Maintain a healthy weight: An unhealthy BMI can affect pregnancy rates and increase the risk of miscarriage.
Avoid smoking and alcohol: Smoking and alcohol consumption can negatively impact IVF success rates.
Reduce caffeine: Some studies suggest that high caffeine consumption may reduce fertility and IVF success rates.
Prepare emotionally: Plan ahead to avoid scheduling your cycle during major work deadlines or family obligations. You can also plan stress-reducing activities during your treatment cycle.
Prepare for injections: Warm up the vial before injection using your hands, warm water, or a heat pack. You can also massage the area after injecting.
Prepare for embryo transfer: The lining of the uterus (endometrium) needs to be prepared so that the embryo can implant. This is usually done with an ultrasound.
