Distinguished, with an air of grace
A pinnacle refined
So delicate with pride of place
Yet someone’s left behind

Embellished by The Master’s hand
Exquisite grand and chic
Abandoned cracked like barren land
A vessel quite unique

No one can use a broken cup
Once beautiful and fine
But one God’s hand has lifted up
He’ll fill with precious wine

Of common dirt of humble clay
A thing of little worth
The Lord can cleanse a cup today
And give it second birth

A treasure to The King on high
Once damaged in the storm
An ugly cup that none would buy
No beauty in its form

Perhaps you think you’re ugly too
You’re battered stained or bruised
But Christ my friend can make you new
However much abused

In tender hands with love and care
God’s Lamb can cleanse your soul
His truth can make the ugly fair
Can make the broken whole

More precious than the finest gold
More sweet than honey dew
Restored once more within the fold
In service of the few
