Melting Mountains

In the poem Melting Mountains, the pronoun 'Her' refers to Bharat (India) whose civilizational strength has always drawn from the winds allowed to course freely across its land. Some carried knowledge and cultural strains from distant civilisations; others bore India's wisdom outward, seeding it across the world. The ancient ideal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - the world is one family - often echoed in Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speeches, is a civilizational truth India has long lived by. Mahatma Gandhi once captured its essence when asked what nationalism meant to him: "My nationalism is profound internationalism." Melting Mountains is an ode to that lofty idea.
