Edward Schriner - Ode to a Tree
5 Views • Jun 18, 2014
Description
Recalling the many times in its life that it's been used
A fractured limb revealing the marks of a child's rope swing
Its roots recalling the soothing moisture of a babbling spring
Another memory comes to reveal scars of leaves that once caused shade
And the reverberating laughter of children as it watched them play
Its bark shows many hearts carved by the fervor of young lovers
Beneath its boughs, they woo under its profuse cover
Within its heart resided many various, interesting creatures
As their offspring cavorted throughout its many features
So now, my dear reader, as now you can openly see
The memories and recollections about the life of a tree.
