Ann Pattinson - Ode to a tree

The gnarled branches stretch out toward the heavenly sky, the buds slowly opening and exploding into a colorful canopy filled with beauty and luminance. Small motes of sunlight filter through the thick blanket of leaves, and they leave patterns dancing across my toes. The caressing wind stirs its many leaves; they breathe as the tree reveals its many secrets beneath its scarred bark. Its beauty and determination outlives the havoc surrounding it, and as world changes, the colors darkening and churning, the young sapling grows and matures. Its leaves bring comfort, the colors vibrant yet soothing, the tree ageing with time. It watches with unseeing eyes, its wisdom so wonderful, so intense; I just sit on its one of its many branches and watch as its moves and breathes with time
