Dia Chatterjee - Be Calm! !

They instruct: “Be calm! ”
And why should I?
Calm is a clam’s way
To sit shut abiding life as life happens by
Probably to watch the fish and reed
Play their daily hide-and-seek
Or to ignore the wizened sand grains talk
As they move around for their daily walk
She does not talk, she does not yearn
She sits clammed up refusing to learn
Oh! The clam sits quiet through much I see
But that’s NOT me, that’s NOT me! !
Don’t you see, I have far too much energy
To be as calm and boring as a clam can be? !

So folks: “You better leave me be! ”
I cannot be calm, just as a clam can never be me!
