Corey Thomas - Disengaged
0 Views • Jun 11, 2014
Description
Her name will remain unknown.
I could see that her eyes were
Vacant to her surroundings.
Unaffected by the noise from the
Cars passing her by,
As she stood at the corner,
Begging for any spare change
From strangers walking by.
We shared the love for
Guatemalan coffee and
Began talking to one another.
I felt all her pain in the words
as she softly spoke to me.
Of life she had been denied,
Her only resort was to consume
the drugs and alcohol
in order to kill the pain,
A momentary fulfillment.
The detachment of a once loving heart.
Falling last in the race,
of a fast pace society growing stronger
As she becomes weaker.
She has no home to retreat to
when the nights grow colder.
Curls up in the sleeping bag
and slowly closes her eyes,
To a world that no longer cares.
