I’ve been asked whether it can be used to measure soil temperature. Technically yes, although you’ll only be getting the temperature a couple of feet into the ground. For larger plants like bushes or tree samplings, where you really want to be digging fairly deep and spread-out, it may not be totally accurate for what the soil is doing deeper down.
