Bits from the Steampunk Essextraordinaire II

I went to the Langford Museum of Power back in October as part of a general tour of the museums in and around Maldon in Essex. I knew about the railway in the grounds of the museum but was told back then that the next time it was due to run was during the Steampunk Essextraordinaire event in November 2015.

So I went back there the following month. This is a short extract of what was going on in the courtyard - I couldn't take much more as I only had my old Huawei Ascend G330 to hand since my Honor 6 is currently very sick and I didn't think to take a proper camera with me!

(Also no thanks to the guy next to me during the opening bout of the Tea Duelling who kept darting in front of me and jostling me - hence the camera shake! I think he was French...)

(Also why Malted Milk? Surely that was handicapping the contestants before the dunking even began!)

All the same, and even without special events going on, this is a pretty interesting museum to visit - it's partly the remains of the water pumping station that was closed in 1963 plus all sorts of old machines. Probably as good a place to put a Steampunk festival as any! It's about five minutes outside Maldon if you follow Holloway Road out of Heybridge towards Hatfield Peverel.

Also worth visiting in the area is the Combined Services Museum in Station Road, a few minutes walk from the Maldon Tesco and the Maldon Museum at the top of Promenade Park - though this last is closed during the winter.
