ANDREW BLAKEMORE - The Water Wheel
15 Views • Nov 07, 2014
Description
The water wheel does gently turn,
Around, around the sodden spokes
In motion to the flow,
As there I stand upon the bridge
That spans the ebbing River Brit,
As peaceful waters glisten with
The sunlight's dawning glow.
The scent of yeast within the air
That floats upon this restless morn,
And clings unto the summer breeze
Like talons to its prey,
As grassy banks do bend and wave
With every gust that carries forth,
The linnet's song of sweetest joy
That sounds throughout the day.
Above the clouds do slowly pass
Amid the blue of Dorset sky,
That greets the pleasant countryside
Of rolling downs and fields,
While still the wheel does gently turn
Around, around the droplets fall,
Like silver raindrops they descend
Such grace their beauty yields.
