I know he doesn't hate me
as much as he tells his friends he does.
I know it isn't hate he feels,
but it was never love.

I know I made him smile
once or twice, at least.
I know he cared a little bit.
That beauty loved his beast.

He's made up all these stories.
What a fabled witch I am!

From which these fairy tales began.

I hadn't felt the magic.
No harder I could've tried.
It wasn't anything special.
No more truth could we both hide.

We both went our separate ways
Not much to my dismay.
When my name was brought up last night.
There was nothing nice for him to say.

I don't understand the problem.
I must have hurt his pride.
I couldn't do it anymore
I couldn't live a lie.
