Alan Buckley - Certainty
2 Views • Jun 14, 2014
Description
Death, taxes and loneliness.
A consolation for the insecure,
A smirk amidst unhappiness.
The coffin awaits,
The clock ticks down,
No pause or rewind,
To relive the few highlights.
The money drains away,
Seeps through the fingers,
Untold luxury, elegance, company
Are robbed by the state, along with your sanity.
The people turn their backs,
A poor man dying is hardly a spectacle.
Happens all the time,
Marginalised and forgettable.
A cycle unbroken and a shame unspoken.
