Oh if I close my eyes,
I can still perfectly picture your face.
Oh if I search my mind,
The memories of our time together will remain unfaded.

Why though, why would I do such a thing?
To recall moments painfully snatched away.
Harrowing smiles reopen healing wounds,
Why would I retread past footsteps?

Why would I allow a day of beautiful sunshine
To become clouded in an instant?
Why would I continue to imagine you next to me,
When I know we will be forever apart?

Because I can not help myself.
Yet.
