Yoga Stop Natural Disaster

Earth makes some adjustments in its weather and platonic plates just like we adjust ourselves after sitting on a chair for long. We call these adjustments as natural disasters only when harm is caused to human life and property. When an earthquake or volcanic eruption happens in an unpopulated area it is not a disaster. But why is it that majority of the natural disasters are occurring in heavily populated areas?
