Yisel Chong - I only ask for a minute

I always tell you “listen”,
you always say “I’m busy”
Why can’t there be a day,
When you’ll leave the things aside,
And actually pay attention to me?
You don’t know what you may be missing.
You don’t have any idea,
of what I’ve got to say.
I don’t blame you.
But the days keep passing,
And everyday we are more distant apart.
I really care for you,
But my love has gone smaller,
I guess time, can also diminish things in life.
You think material things and gifts make me happy,
They do, but not as much as love and attention would do.
I wish we just had a day for only us two,
to spend the day together,
as a mother and daughter will do.
My secrets I never share with you anymore,
My fears and emotions are never even noticed.
I walk right infront of you,
With no story to tell,
I come and leave,
With a “hi” and “bye”, like a stranger will do.
Tears run down my cheeks,
Knowing that you are my mother,
and my affection is not as big,
as I wish it would be.
