When couples divorce in Israel and there are minor children, then (at least between two Jews) there is an absolute obligation on the father to pay child support. This obligation has no connection to whether or not the father earns more than the mother. Therefore, if the mother is the parent who has custody of the minor children (which happens in 90% of the cases here), then the father will end up paying monthly child support payments.

Fair enough, but until what age? Remember, is Israel there is obligatory army or national service for all 18 year olds (2 years for women and 3 for men). Are child support payments made during that time? If so, at the same rate as before the children started there service? Watch the video to find out.
