What is the World Series?

The World Series Major League Baseball is the famous professional baseball organization based in the USA, which is made up of two leagues: The American League and the National League. And the World Series is the championship series played between the winner of each leagues. Furthermore, both the leagues are divided into three divisions having 5 teams each which represent the different geographical areas of America. It all started in 1903 when Barney Dreyfuss, the owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates wrote a letter to the owner of the Boston Red Sox. He challenged them to 'World Championship Series' in a best of 9 games series, which was accepted and won by Boston Red Sox 5-3. Till date, the American League teams have won 66 of the 114 World Series played. And the New York Yankees have won the most World Series Championships at 27.
