LeBron James Breaks All-Time Scoring Record

On February 7, 2023 LeBron James broke the NBA's scoring record with his 38,388th point.
NBC reports that the record-breaking points came during the 20th season of his career in front of
a home crowd against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
James surpassed a milestone that stood for almost 39 years and was previously held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
With 10.9 seconds left in the third quarter, James broke the record with a fadeaway shot.
Following the shot, the crowd erupted, and the game was paused to celebrate James' achievement.
To commemorate the moment, Abdul-Jabbar handed James a basketball on the court and shook his hand.
An emotional James thanked his family, fans and the NBA.

In 2003, James was the NBA's number one pick coming out of high school.
Over his two-decade career, James has averaged about 27 points per game.
The four-time league MVP has won four NBA titles with three teams.
On January 24, 2023 he broke another NBA record, becoming the only player in history to score
40 or more points against every NBA franchise.
