Wandering Scarlet - Escape

its been a long time
haven't seen the light in years
locked underground,
silenced
trapped
frightened
havent felt the fresh breeze
havent smelled the beautiful flowers
havent climbed the tall trees
i was locked away by the beast,
he tore my soul out of me,
and threw me into the dank darkness
now i am free,
free from uncertainty
free from blackness,
free from captivity,
but i wonder
where is the beast
what happened to it
how did i escape
why did it leave,
was it that lost stone i found,
that i picked up and ran with as i escaped?
did it ward away the beast
i wonder....
