I hope one day you don't decide
that I was just a waste of time.
I think you think
that's what I'll do;
that eventually I'll get tired of you.
Truth is, I'm scared
that I'll disappoint you.
It's easier for me
to complain about you
than it is to say
what makes me afraid of you.
Well, I'm afraid I'm not pretty enough,
tall enough
small enough
blond enough
fun enough
sane enough
sweet enough
neat enough
good enough;
for you.
And it's hard for me
to tell you this at all.
I don't like being vulnerable;
but most of the time,
I'm surprised you still call.
I don't know what it is
that keeps you around,
but whatever I've got,
I hope it never runs out.
So don't pay me attention
when I bitch and complain
I just get tired of you
being constantly amazing.
Every now and then
I need to take you down a peg.
Unless you're too good to be true.
