Description

Rain is the result of water vapor in the atmosphere condensing into droplets that become heavy enough to fall to the ground. This process begins with the evaporation of water from surfaces such as oceans, rivers, and lakes, as well as from plant transpiration. The water vapor rises into the atmosphere, where it cools and condenses into tiny droplets around dust particles, forming clouds.

When the droplets in the clouds combine and grow larger, they eventually become too heavy to be suspended in the air. Gravity causes these larger droplets to fall as rain. The type of rain and its intensity depend on various factors, including temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure.

Rain can be categorized into different types:

1. **Drizzle:** Light rain with very small droplets.
2. **Shower:** Brief, intense bursts of rain, often from cumulonimbus clouds.
3. **Continuous rain:** Prolonged rainfall, typically from stratiform clouds.

Rain is essential for replenishing freshwater resources, supporting agriculture, and maintaining natural ecosystems. It also plays a significant role in weather patterns and climate.
