US Successfully Tests THAAD Missile Defense System

The US Missile Defense Agency successfully intercepted</a> a missile during a test of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system on July 11.

According to the Missile Defense Agency news release</a>, a ballistic missile target was launched by the US Air Force over the Pacific Ocean north of Hawaii. The THAAD system successfully detected, tracked and shot down a target over Kodiak, Alaska.
