Supporting Democratic Transition in Pakistan - On 11th May, 2013, over 46 million Pakistanis thronged polling stations to exercise their right to vote. This was a historic event, marking the first time that a civilian government completed its five year term and the people of Pakistan experienced a transition from one democratically elected government to another. Upon a request for electoral assistance from the Election Commission, the UNDP set up the Electoral Cycle Support Project in 2012 to help the Election Commission implement its Five Year Strategic Plan 2010-2014.
