There are those who we know
That we will miss,
Through and through in our bones.
The catching, winking, sparkling and
Twinkling of eyes as we
Walk arm in arm—connected;
One, in that perfect moment when
Heart and heart touch.
It's that enduring memory of
The first kiss, late at night
'Neath the stars who
Mirror the flame which was
Kindled for so long,
Nurtured and fueled, blazing—
Seared forever into the heart.
Even with the healing gift
Of time, scars remain as
Lingering remnants of the
Sensational pulchritude, soft
Affections, whispered “My Favorites, ”
And the final brush of tenderness
On my heart,
Never to be forgotten.
