Two Steps Forward - 2

Two Steps forward: This film looks at the peasant movement originating in 10 districts of Punjab against the forced imposition of a contract system on military farms. The film lauds the gallantry of the local women stepping forward to form a “Thappa Force” in response to the military’s use of violence to suppress male protestors. The women acted as the frontline fighters of the movement from 2001 to 2004. Their determination eventually left the military with no choice but to step back.
