Tsunami mock drill’ held in Kochi

Kochi, Mar 12 (ANI): A tsunami mock drill was held on the Kochi beach to determine the vigilance of disaster relief mechanisms in the district. The State Emergency Operations Centre and the District Disaster Management Authority jointly organised the drill as the beach was evacuated to facilitate efficient conduct of the drill. The drill imitated evacuation and made emergency hospitalisation of the ‘tsunami-affected’ and the district emergency operations centre swung into action as soon as it was alerted by the State Emergency Operations Centre located in Thiruvananthapuram. The police, Fire and Rescue Services, Revenue-Health authorities, Navy and the coast guard were all part of the mock drill.
