Ste'fon Walker and Jasmine Benson are senior college students that attend McPherson College located in McPherson Kansas. We are campaigning to raise awareness for the Haiti Medical Project. The Haiti medical project helps bring health care to impoverished communities through mobile clinics. The project came about shortly after the earthquake in 2010. The church of the Brethren decided to team up with local churches to help those in need. Haiti is considered to be the poorest country in the hemisphere. The average person does not have access to medical care. About 60% of people are drinking out of rivers. Drinking unpurified contaminated water can cause health issues. When consuming unclean water that chances of catching cholera are extremely high. Cholera is a bacterial disease causing severe diarrhea and dehydration.The vaccine cost a few dollars a dose and a person only needs two doses within a few weeks. The vaccine then gives a person 60-85% protection from the disease. As of now, they have only one well established and we wish to help to develop another. Our goal is to raise the money by June 1, 2016. We have decided to take this on as our personal project and see this through in hopes that it creates a permanent change in living conditions. God has blessed us with stable lives to do what we please and now it's on us it bless another life.
