Timothy Kashorek - Priceless

When walking on a sunny beach
one warm September day
A bird on a brance just out of reach
looked down and then did say

Ask for anything my friend
your wish is my command
he added as an afterthought
But only one can you demand

I knew then what to ask for
not fame or cars or jewels
those you can get in a store
a poor choice made by fools

The bird waited there on that branch
ever so patiently
And when I asked he didn't blanch
but flew down from his tree

My friend you've chosen wisely
he told me with a smile
It's not often ones surprise me
with an answer that's worth while

What did I ask for that came true
I'm glad I chose this to the end
For on that day I asked for you
to be my priceless friend
