Tiger writing and phonics

First I taught my kindergarten students the English sounds and corresponding letters and letter combinations. Then we practiced reading and writing words. At the end of the year, I taught the students how to read and write sentences. They could write anything they could say, with a little help. For example they wrote sentences like - My birthday is August 17th. - I like rainbows. - This is my family. I have a baby brother.
The students have done very well with sentences. Their next step will be journal writing.
