Description
This was our second trip overall (and this year) to Olympic National Park in the PNW. The park protects four different regions: the Pacific coastline, alpine areas, the west-side temperate rainforest, and the forests of the drier east side. The park has three distinct ecosystems, each with its own unique flora and fauna.
In this video, you will see glimpses of the following sites and attractions that this trip provided, such as:
• The Peace Arch Border, a monument that celebrates the peaceful relationship between Canada and the United States
• The Couperville-Port Townsend Ferry Terminal, a scenic way to cross the Puget Sound and reach the Olympic Peninsula
• Merriman Falls, a stunning waterfall that plunges 40 feet into the Quinault River
• Sitka Spruce, a giant tree that is over 1,000 years old and has a circumference of 58 feet
• Kalaloch Beach, a popular spot for camping, hiking, and beachcombing
• Tree of Life, a remarkable tree that hangs over a cliff and survives by its roots
• Ruby Beach, a beautiful beach that is named for its reddish sand and pebbles
• Forks, a town that is famous for being the setting of the Twilight saga
• Quileute Marina, a harbour that serves the Quileute Tribe and offers fishing and whale watching tours
• Second Beach, a secluded beach that is accessible by a short trail and features tide pools and sea stacks
• Rialto Beach, a rugged beach that is known for its driftwood and rock formations
• Beaver Falls, a cascading waterfall that is surrounded by lush vegetation
• Lake Crescent, a deep and clear lake that was formed by glacial activity
• Madison Falls, a picturesque waterfall that is only a short walk from the parking lot
• Elwha River, a river that is undergoing the largest dam removal project in history
• Sequim, a town that is famous for its lavender farms and festivals
• Landing Park, a park that offers a panoramic view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains
• Falls View Campground, a campground that overlooks a waterfall and a creek
• Rocky Brook Falls, a spectacular waterfall that drops 229 feet into a pool
• Dosewallips State Park, a park that features a saltwater shoreline, a freshwater river, and a forest.
