Description

A heat pump is a device that transfers heat from one location to another using a refrigeration cycle. The basic working principle of a heat pump is similar to that of a refrigerator, but with the opposite effect.
Heat pumps work by using a refrigerant that is circulated through two sets of heat exchangers. The first set of heat exchangers, called the evaporator, absorbs heat from the air, water, or ground outside of the building being heated. The refrigerant in the evaporator absorbs the heat and turns into a gas. The gas is then compressed by a compressor, which increases its temperature and pressure.
