The Thunderhead Approaches

I can't even remember how long ago I started this song! Sometime earlier this year, I got the the main piano riff and the first bass line down, but I struggled to write a decent melody. For months, this project sat in my Unfinished Projects folder, collecting dust. Occasionally, I'd pull it out and try to add more, but I could never find a melody that quite fit. Finally, this past week, inspired by a friend of mine, I sat down with the project and hammered out this really fun and groovy melody, complete with chromaticism and blue notes. Suddenly, ideas poured out of me. I added new basslines, new sections, some new instruments, new automation, and so on. Here is the result!
