Description

Not an edit. This is a nice and clean (re-recorded) stereo version, from the album "Fontana Records Story Volume 6" (1966).
This was originally recorded by The McCoys as the B-side to their 1965 single "Fever," their follow up to their nr.1 hit "Hang On Sloopy". After a series of hits as "The Merseybeats", two of the band left, leaving frontman and guitarist Tony Crane and rhythm guitarist Billy Kinsley. The duo re-christened themselves "The Merseys" and they recorded this song for their first single with the help of top UK session musicians Jimmy Page (guitar), John Paul Jones (bass), Jack Bruce (stand-up bass) and Clem Cattini (drums).

In 1966 a nr.4 hit in the UK (the single was for six weeks in the top ten), nr.23 in Holland.
In 1973 David Bowie had a nr.3 hit with his cover in the UK, nr.1 in Australia and nr.2 in Ireland. nr.29 in Holland, nr.39 in Germany.

The lead dancer is Bob Banas. Born to dance. He not only did big hits like West Side Story but also was a dance teacher for much of his life. He is now (March 2021) about 87 years old. The closest anyone comes to him would be Fred Astaire. (Thank you Sharon for this information.)

I'm a ? "dancing fool" ?, so not very interested in it - I think musicians should make music and stop all useless dancing during their performances - but this guy got my attention... he seems to levitate in this video... amazing !

SORROW
(Richard Gottehrer, Jerry Goldstein and Bob Feldman)(forming The Strangeloves)

with your long blond hair and your eyes of blue
the only thing I ever get from you is
sorrow, sorrow

you're acting funny, spending all my money
you're out there playing your high class games
sorrow, sorrow

you never do what you know you ought to
something tells me you're the devil's daughter
sorrow, sorrow

aaahhh...

I tried to find her but I can't resist her
I never knew just how much I missed her
sorrow, sorrow

with your long blond hair and your eyes of blue
the only thing I ever got from you was
sorrow, sorrow

aaahhh...

with your long blond hair
I couldn't sleep last night
with your long blond hair...
