The game of tennis doubles is infinitely different from singles. Singles is s game of push and be pushed. Doubles is a game of pull and be pulled. Singles is depth; doubles is angles.

Singles is ground strokes; doubles is contingency and auxiliary strokes. Singles is youth and fitness; doubles is mindful and clever.

The key to high level doubles centers on first serve, first tennis volley, and return of serve. One must learn an aggressive spin serve, a solid low volley, and an effective return.

One must find and develop a partner with contrasting skill sets. The aspiring doubles player must find a pro who has been at least top 10 in the country and apply all that he or she teaches.
