Sweetgum Symphony I

On June 21, 2022, the forest of Marmaris in Türkiye was devastated by fire. On a few surviving trees, sensors were installed by the HeartMath Institute.
Bert Barten was invited by NP2e to compose a requiem based on the data collected, as a tribute to the lost forest.
Talking Trees Orchestra — a collaboration between Bert Barten, Pieter Nooten, and Scot Gresham-Lancaster — transformed the data from the damaged ecosystem into the Sweetgum Symphony, Parts 1 and 2.
Here, you can witness a brief impression from the live performance held in the forest of Günnücek Milli Parkı on June 2, 2024, in Marmaris, Türkiye.
It was the renowned conductor and violinist Samir Gulahmedov and his orchestra who brought the Sweetgum Symphony to life.
