Warp is generally of cotton, occasionally goat's wool. The weft is also cotton and both weft and warp are tightly spun. In ancient pieces, wefts and warps are of wool. Pile is a very dense and hard cut medium to high.

Weavers frequently use Turkish knots, however, in some cases Persian knots can be found. Very often, dark blue and strong red colors predominate in these rugs. However, yellow and brown are also used and very rarely green is also used.

Qoltuq rugs can be found in various sizes especially from 1.50m upwards. Big pieces of above 12 sq. meters are also widespread.
