The German Protest song "Strassenbahn am Montagmorgen" (monday morning tram) is about lonesome working class people filling the tram and rolling along with their dreams and ideals, when being on the way to workplace. As long as we are isolated and unwilling to look into the face of others, looking for the seats without neighbour, we are victims of exploitation of the factory owners who play their money game without even asking if we want to take part of the game. An we have no chance to lead a better life before we find a language of our own. That's why the singer refuses to be able to sing - if he had a language, he would. And without our songs we will never find the solidarity to fight for our rights.
This is one of my first songs from the time when I was a singer.-songwriter and travelled mostly to South of Germany to perform in small clubs and folk inns.
