Description

Electromechanical systems are a interesting type of multiphysics systems. They are composed by two subsystems, a mechanical and an electromagnetic, that interact. In this paper, an electromechanical system with dry-friction is analyzed. The presence of dry-friction enables the occurrence of stick-slip oscillations in the mechanical subsystem.
The mechanical subsystem response can be a sequence of alternate stick and slip modes. During the stick mode, the forces acting over the mechanical subsystem balance so that they add up to zero. A stick lasts as long as this balance force lasts. It is important to remark that the forces acting acting over the mechanical subsystem have mechanical and electromagnetic origin. The friction field is considered to be stochastic in a way that the system response is composed by an alternating random sequence of stick and slip modes. The objective of the work is to quantify the uncertainty propagation in the system response.
