Steven L. Mattes - My Place

I know a place
thats dark and lonely
a desolate place
where wind blows coldly
where death creeps slowly
and the night is eternal
and only ash remains
from a raging inferno
this place is near,
for I know it well
this place is empty
and it is my hell
where there is weeping
and constant sorrow
and it knows not
the meaning of tomorrow
as I search for light
in the constant dark,
my thirst goes unquenched
my place, my heart.
