The friction between two surfaces produces static charges. Rubbing glass, plastic or metal with wool, silk or rubber produces static electricity. In this demo, a teacher rubs his white-board duster on his office floor carpet. Then, static charges accumulate on the duster and these charges are detected by an electroscope. The video was demonstrated by Mustafa Daif and directed by Younis Ali with assistance from Ahmed Daqqaq and Moh'd Peer Ebrahim.
